Roots are, well, the root of good plant health! When you give roots a healthy start, your plants are much more likely to be able to survive drought, heat, cold, poor soil and disease - everything your veg plot could throw at it. 
This sowing season, we're looking at how to give roots the best possible start using boosters, root trainers, Jiffy Pellets, soil testing equipment and more!

Our tomato, chilli & pepper plants are looking strong & healthy in our Vitopod heated propagator, which is set to 20°C. Our seeds were sown just before Christmas, and transplanted into pots 2-3 weeks later.

Our Gardening Angels have just taken some Pepino cuttings which should begin showing signs of roots in about a week. Pepino is like a cross between melon and pear and is a firm favourite with our Gardening Angels.

Our Gardening Angels have been hard at work propagating Babaco Papaya and Naranjilla in our Hydropod Cuttings propagator. After being planted 2 weeks ago our cuttings are showing lots of healthy root growth.

There's nothing more rewarding than growing plants from seed and is a lot easier than most would think. Small seeds such as salad seeds are best grown in trays whilst larger seeds such as tomato, peppers and peas seeds are best grown in pots.
