Flower + Plant Garden Jobs
In November

- Prune roses to a third of their original height to prevent ‘wind rock’ and reduce the chance of them being uprooted in high winds. Always spray your secateurs with a disinfectant spray before any pruning takes place. This will prevent any disease been transferred from one plant to the next. A clean garden is a happy garden. Our Silver Bullet Mist Spray is perfect for disinfecting any cutting tool before any pruning.
- Plant Tulip bulbs for a barrage of spring colour.

- Continue to remove fallen leaves. Collect these into a bin bag and store out of the way over winter. Leaf mould makes an excellent mulch.
- Plant winter bedding, pots and baskets.
- Raise pots off the ground to prevent water-logging.
- Cut back any dead foliage of Perennials. Lift and divide any overcrowded clumps. Grow these on and move to other parts of the garden or share with friends.
- Pruning of trees and summer flowering shrubs can now be done, once again don’t forget to disinfect any cutting tools. Avoid pruning any spring flowering shrubs, they usually flower on the previous years growth and you run the risk of cutting the flowers off. It’s also a good time to gather any Holly and other evergreen shrubs if you are planning to make Christmas wreathes and table decorations. Any trees or shrubs that are too large for you to deal with, DON’T risk it, always consult a professional. Please take a look at our range of pruning essentials.

- November is the perfect month to plant bare-rooted hedges, roses and shrubs. Bare-rooted plants can usually be bought much cheaper than potted ones.
- Insulate outdoor containers and pots and protect any frost tender plants. We sell a range of plant protection, insulation and heaters to ensure your plants get through the winter months. Click here to browse our range.
- Plant Hyacinths, Dwarf Daffodils and Amaryllis in bowls/pots for a bit of indoor colour.

- If you are overwintering anything tender in the greenhouse, keep an eye on the temperatures. Insulate and provide heating where needed. We stock Bubble wrap for insulating, plus greenhouse tube heaters.
